Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I get my existing ruined window frame and glass removed?

To remove a damaged window or door frame can be relatively easy for a person who is fairly good at DIY work. Our uPVC specialists are experienced in frame removals and because they know what to look out for during disassembling a window structure, it is safely taken away. Not all installations are similar so it is important to consider how to tackle elements with satisfactory methods to avoid contravening with any health and planning guidelines.

Frames that require replacing are sometimes warped and can wedge the hermetically sealed glass units into position. Where expanding foam is used, it can add to the difficulties in moving the pane that is securely held in place. Our experienced glaziers have the specialist tools to carry out problematic tasks. To save you the hassle, we include the cost of removal with all window and glass replacements.

  • How do I pay for the window glass replacement?

Window glass replacement costs are made up of various aspects of the work required. Preston Glass Fix looks at the size required, location of glazing and whether the existing installation is structurally sound. Quoted price will deliberate on these factors and start from a low £50 and go up according to the quantity of panes needed.

We accept cash payments, bank transfers, or funds through PayPal. Our invoices can include the bank account details or the PayPal.Me link. Let us know and we will add the information you need.

  • Do I measure my window or door from the inside beading for a new glass?

Many glass fittings in a window are different and require the glass to be of a certain size to fit correctly. Your measurements from beading to beading can be used to provide an estimated cost. If you are happy with the price, our glaziers will measure themselves to ensure that the correct dimensions are within our required tolerances to achieve a great outcome.

To measure the window and door glass yourself, you need to understand how the visible glass height and width works. You can measure the glass as you see it from the end of the beading to the other end of the beading on the opposite side, whether inside or outside of the profile. This will provide an approximate size for gaining a quotation.

  • I need a new shop front glazing replacement?

We now do shopfront glass replacements and commerical low level glazing for most businesses. Your shop front glass is a marketing tool that can help with selling your products or services. Preston Glass Fix understands this and aims to attend your premises quickly for measuring your commercial glass replacement so that the order is put through fast to restore your brand sooner rather than later.
